The Doona car seat and stroller is on a lot of must-have baby lists because it makes life with a baby so much easier. Lately, parents have been struggling to find the Doona in stock anywhere. So, where HAVE all the Doonas gone?
Why are Doona’s Out of Stock Everywhere?
Most of us are aware of global shipping shortages that started last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, COVID-19 is still wreaking havoc when it comes to shipping.
Most products, like the Doona, come out of factories in Asia. These items are essentially getting stuck there when factories and ports close due to COVID-19 infections. All of these closures create a ripple effect of further closures and delays.
Ships can be forced to dock or sit outside of a port if crew members are sick. Ships may also be stuck waiting for ports to reopen. This leads to a backlog of items going out and coming in to ports. It also also leads to containers being stuck on ships in waiting in port, instead of being emptied and sent home for new shipments. The container shortage has become a big problem, and is one of the reasons we are seeing price increases on goods. It’s also a reason why we expect product shortages to peak around the holiday season.
When will Doona be back in stock?
Doona is still doing what they can to get their car seat strollers into retailers hands. Many retailers, however, are holding onto inventory to serve their local area. Others may choose not to stock them at all due to the lack of availability.
It’s not likely that there will be strong inventory of Doonas until next year, 2022. Until then, keep checking your local boutiques and online shops. We will continue to do our best to maintain some online and in-store inventory.
