We know that comparing car seats can really set your head spinning! Rotating or swivel car seats are gaining popularity since they make it easy to get your child in and out of the car seat and adjust the seat as your child grows.
Two high end options for swivel convertible car seats are the Cybex Sirona S and the Nuna Revv. The Cybex Sirona with swivel features has been available in the US since at least 2019 and was available before then in European markets. The Nuna Revv was released in 2021.
What sets them apart?
Some of the key differences between the Cybex Sirona S and Nuna REVV include:
- Cybex Sirona S has a load leg
- Nuna REVV has bubbleless recline positions
- Cybex Sirona S has a SensorSafe harness
- Cybex Sirona S has a higher maximum weight limit (50 lbs to the Nuna REVV’s 40 lbs)
- The Cybex Sirona S is less expensive, roughly $550 to the REVVs $650
- Cybex Sirona S weighs slightly less
- Nuna REVV comes with two cupholders
Side-By-Side Look at the Cybex Sirona S and Nuna REVV
Side Impact Protection
Both the Sirona S and the Nuna REVV have SIP (Side Impact Protection). These pods help absorb impacts in a side impact collision. The Sirona S has linear side impact protection pods that need to be popped out on the side closest to the vehicle door. The Nuna REVV SIP pods are fixed so you don’t have to remember to pop them out.
Ease Of Use
Both the Cybex Sirona S and the Nuna REVV are quite user-friendly. The Nuna REVV design choices have a higher quality feel to them.
For instance, the adjustment lever for the headrest on the Nuna REVV is inset and at an angle that makes it easier to move up and down. The Cybex Sirona S has a lever that can feel a little flimsy – and while easy to move up, pushing downward is a little more awkward.
The Sirona S comes with a SensorSafe chest clip, which uses a Bluetooth connection to alert your phone if the rear temperature is too hot or cold for your child, or if your child has been left in their car seat after the Bluetooth connection has been broken. This is a wonderful safety feature that a lot of parents find comforting.
The button on the chest clip for the Sirona S is a little deeper, likely due to the increased thickness, which makes it slightly harder to operate than the Nuna REVV which has a more flush mechanism.
Both the Cybex Sirona S and the Nuna REVV have a seatbelt installation path. The installation door on the Nuna REVV has an easy-open mechanism and props the door up. The installation door on the Cybex Sirona S comes off completely.
Swivel Feature
The Nuna REVV has an easy to access swivel release on both sides of the car seat. The Cybex Sirona S has one single release in the middle of the car seat. One big difference between the REVV and Sirona, is the Sirona has to be in the complete upright recline position in order to swivel. The Nuna REVV will swivel from any recline position. This is an added step if you’re using the rotating feature to help get your child in and out of the car seat and could prove difficult to move the seat into that position once your child grows bigger and heavier.

Conclusion
Overall the finishes on the REVV do make it stand out. The leather accents and solid construction, plus the organic cotton inserts that will be next to babies face make it a great choice. However, the lower price, SensorSafe technology, and the higher weight limit make the Sirona S a solid contender.
